Research Th.D in Religion and Science

GMU will now offer students seeking a doctoral degree (Th.D.) the opportunity to do so by enrolling in a research-focused degree program in collaboration with the Institute for Science and Religion, Cochin, India.
Students enrolling in this program will have access to all the courses offered in the joint Master’s program of the Institute of Science and Religion.  Students will be required to either complete the Master’s program in Science and Religion before enrolling in the Th.D. or show that they have already completed either a Master’s degree in religious studies or in one of the scientific disciplines from a recognized educational institution.    Students who have completed the  GMU Master of Theology degree will be eligible to enroll in this program.
Students will need to show the capacity to do doctoral-level research by completing a literature review of scholarly publications for a research project in the field of Religion and Science in consultation with the core faculty of the joint Religion and  Science program.
Students interested in this program may take one of the courses offered in the joint Master’s degree program in Religion and Science at a minimal cost to determine if they wish to proceed with enrollment in it. The completed curriculum for the joint Master’s degree program will be made available for review to applicants for this program.  Students enrolling in this program will have access to the GMU Religion and Philosophy database and have the support of the GMU Librarian who will assist students in their literature review.
