DEGREE PROGRAMS

The Global Ministries University degree programs offer contemporary theology and encourage students to explore a variety of religious traditions as part of their course of study and the relationship of these spiritual traditions to contemporary global issues such as poverty, racism, sexism and militarism. The programs include study of the world religious traditions, global spirituality, the philosophy of religion, moral thought, social justice issues, and the history of various religious traditions.

Custom-Designed Programs
Global Ministries University gives you the opportunity to custom-design your degree program by allowing you to offer input as to the courses that will best meet your ministerial goals.  Furthermore, GMU has many contemporary courses from which to choose.

Flexible Schedule
You may begin program at any time.  There is no waiting for registration dates or semesters to begin and since Global Ministries University offers self-directed study, you may complete courses on your schedule in the convenience of your home.

Prior Learning and Life Experience Credit
Traditionally, college credits are earned in formal classrooms within the academic semester.  However, Global Ministries University believes that extra-institutional learning and life experiences can also be valid for college credit (doctoral programs excluded).  It is therefore possible to be awarded credit for relevant work duties, volunteer work, non-credit courses, seminars, and workshops, which could significantly reduce cost of tuition. Refer to degree program for number of credits that may be awarded (assessment fee required).

Study Process

Study Process A learning contract that includes the course work required to complete degree and a tentative timetable for completion of program is developed. Dean of program will mentor student or assign a mentor, who will coordinate degree program. If you choose to submit prior learning and life experience for evaluation, you will complete an assessment form and Dean of program will award credits as appropriate. Once learning contract is completed, you will be sent an enrollment agreement for your first course. When the signed agreement is received by the GMU Office with payment, you will be sent the syllabus for your first course and the contact information for your instructor via email.

Application Process
To enroll in a degree program, print out and complete application
and submit to GMU Office with application fee. If you choose to prior learning and life experience for evaluation, assessment fee should also be included. If you are not eligible for degree program of interest, both fees will be refunded within thirty days.
