CERTIFICATE IN PASTORAL MINISTRY

Global Ministries University offers a mini, undergraduate and graduate Pastoral Ministry Certificate. The Certificate in Pastoral Ministry can be custom designed and earned completely online.  This outstanding certificate program is ideal for those who need specific ministry training and/or continuing education in a specific area of pastoral ministry.  

Mini-Certificate: The mini-certificate in Pastoral Ministry consists of two courses selected from the list below and a project or paper.  The cost of the mini-certificate program is $450, which can be paid in three monthly installments of $150, plus a $50 application fee.

Undergraduate: The undergraduate certificate in Pastoral Ministry  consists of four courses selected from the list below and a project or paper.  The cost of the graduate certificate program is $1,000, which can be paid in eight monthly installments of $125, plus a $100 application fee.  

Graduate: The graduate certificate in Pastoral Ministry  consists of four courses selected from the list below and a project or paper.  The cost of the graduate certificate program is $1,400, which can be paid in eight monthly installments of $175, plus a $100 application fee.  


CERTIFICATE IN PASTORAL MINISTRY CURRICULUM

TH551 Wedding Ceremonies and Services
This course will provide training to perform weddings and other rites of passage as is relevant to student’s denomination/faith.

TH554 Interfaith Weddings and Commitment Ceremonies
This course will provide training to write and perform weddings and commitment ceremonies for interfaith, religiously un-affiliated and same-sex couples, including commitment ceremonies, Holy Unions (non-legal religious weddings for same-sex couples) and reaffirmations.

TH552 Homiletics and Preaching Tutorial Contemporary theory and application of how to create a homily and implement an effective delivery.

TH560 Sacramental Worship This course will provide training for creating and performing liturgies in the Christian tradition.

TH553 Interfaith Rituals, Prayers and Ceremonies This course is designed to teach ministers how to write and perform prayers, ceremonies, and rituals, to serve interfaith or multi-faith communities during times of transition and celebration.

TH567 Liturgies for Women’s Rites of Passage This course invites participants to reflect and design new liturgies that celebrate women's physical, spiritual and emotional rites of passage and bless women in life-changing times.

IPA686 Feminist Homiletics and Preaching Contemporary theory and application of how to create a homily and implement an effective delivery. Women from a variety of faith traditions and ethnic backgrounds share preaching styles and sermons from stories of their relationships, cultures and lives.

IPA688 Spiritual Direction This course provides an introduction to the ancient practice of spiritual companionship or spiritual friendship in the Christian tradition. It provides helpful input about the spiritual journey from the experience of the mystics, a knowledge of prayer techniques, and an understanding of the difference between spiritual direction and spiritual or pastoral counseling.

IPE620 Dynamics of a Faith Community This course will cover the dynamics experienced within a faith community.

Project/Paper Student will submit a project or paper that is related to coursework and/or practical use of information acquired.  Subject matter of project or paper to be approved by GMU Dean of Continuing Education.


Students who later decide to pursue a degree program at Global Ministries University will be able to apply tuition and course work to the program:
     Mini and Undergraduate certificate may be applied to Bachelor Degree Program
     Graduate certificate may be applied to Masters/Doctor Degree Programs
