CERTIFICATE IN LITURGICAL STUDIES

Global Ministries University offers a mini, undergraduate and graduate Liturgical Studies Certificate. The Certificate in Liturgical Studies can be custom designed and earned completely online.  This outstanding certificate program is ideal for those who need specific ministry training and/or continuing education in a specific area of liturgical studies.  

Mini-Certificate: The mini-certificate in Liturgical Studies consists of two courses selected from the list below and a project or paper.  The cost of the mini-certificate program is $450, which can be paid in three monthly installments of $150, plus a $50 application fee.

Undergraduate: The undergraduate certificate in Liturgical Studies consists of four courses selected from the list below and a project or paper.  The cost of the graduate certificate program is $1,000, which can be paid in eight monthly installments of $125, plus a $100 application fee.  

Graduate: The graduate certificate in Liturgical Studies consists of four courses selected from the list below and a project or paper.  The cost of the graduate certificate program is $1,400, which can be paid in eight monthly installments of $175, plus a $100 application fee.  

CERTIFICATE IN LITURGICAL STUDIES CURRICULUM

TH560 Sacramental Theology This course will provide training for creating and performing liturgies in the Christian tradition.

TH569 Liturgical Theology Theological reflection and practicum focused on liturgical experience and expressions with Catholic Christian communities
.

IPA701 Feminist Liturgies This course invites participants to reflect and design new liturgies that celebrate women's physical, spiritual and emotional rites of passage and bless women in life-changing times.

TH593  Integration of Music into the Liturgical Celebration:
Students will examine and integrate sacred music into the liturgical celebration such as the Eucharist, the Mass, Special Days of Obligation and other important celebration the church celebrates.
         
TH553 Interfaith Rituals, Prayers and Ceremonies
This course is designed to teach ministers how to write and perform prayers, ceremonies, and rituals, to serve interfaith or multi-faith communities during times of transition and celebration.

TH552 Homiletics and Preaching The format provides an intelligible guide to sermon preparation and additionally allows for concentrated study of any particular dimension of the process.

IPA686 Feminist Homiletics and Preaching Contemporary theory and application of how to create a homily and implement an effective delivery. Women from a variety of faith traditions and ethnic backgrounds share preaching styles and sermons from stories of their relationships, cultures and lives.

TH565 Feminist Sacramental Theology
This course provides insight into gender, sacrament and priesthood. It invites participants to reflect how gender exclusivity obscures the vitally important ways in which the sacraments enact how God is immanent within daily life.

TH567 Liturgies for Women’s Rites of Passage
This course invites participants to reflect and design new liturgies that celebrate women's physical, spiritual and emotional rites of passage and bless women in life-changing times.

Project/Paper
Student will submit a project or paper that is related to liturgical Studies coursework and/or practical use of information acquired.  Subject matter of project or paper to be approved by GMU Dean of Continuing Education.

Students who later decide to pursue a degree program at Global Ministries University will be able to apply tuition and course work to the program:

     Mini and Undergraduate certificate may be applied to Bachelor Degree Program
     Graduate certificate may be applied to Masters/Doctor Degree Programs
